Gadag:There is a lot of activity within the Congress party regarding the change of Chief Minister and it is evident from the senior ministers frequenting Delhi.

The ruling party members are more eager than the opposition to replace the incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah CM.In fact, the CM is mentally prepared to resign, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to the media in Gadag today,he said,”If the CM resigns, the Congress government will not return, and the BJP will have a chance. Therefore, they are making continuous efforts to save the government, but the administration has come to a halt in the state.

No funds are being released for any development. The state is regressing, and it’s Karnataka’s misfortune to have such a government. However, the opposition will not destabilize this government.

Asked about the meeting between BJP state president B.Y.Vijayendra and Public Works Minister,Satish Jarkiholi,he said,it might have been for some other purpose. The BJP high command is very clear, there is no question of destabilizing this government. The BJP fight is ideological and against corruption.

Responding to BJP state president,BY.Vijayendra’s statement that there will be a change in CM after Dasara, Bommai said,Vijayendra has said it based on his calculations. In my opinion, the CM is mentally preparing to resign”.

Debate on caste census report must

Replying to Legislative Council member,B.K.Hariprasad’s statement on the caste census, the former CM said, the Congress leader has spoken from the heart.Let him clarify whether the caste census or the fall of the government is more important.

The caste census is about understanding the economic and educational status, not about power. There is no exact order on the caste census.

Why was the report submitted by the Kantharaj Committee, which headed the backward classes commission, not accepted?.

How can former MP K Jayaprakash Hegde, the current chairman of the commission, submit a report in 2-3 months when Kantharaj took 2-3 years to gather data?.

They have patched up the work and claim to uplift the backward classes based on that report. The confusion should be cleared.

It should be done scientifically, and more programs should be brought in for the backward classes.I had already said that the caste census report should be released. It’s been 8-10 months since the report was submitted, why is it being withheld?”he questioned.

He further said,”After the MUDA (sites scam controversy) allegations against CM Siddaramaiah surfaced, the CM started talking about releasing the caste census report.

From the beginning, there has been opposition within his party to releasing the caste census.Deputy CM DK. Shivakumar and MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa have signed against it.

There is no clarity or alignment within them. The caste census should be released and discussed as soon as possible,” he said.

Asked about former Deputy CM K.S.Eshwarappa’s move to re-establish the Rayanna Brigade,Bommai said he had no information about that.He said he would do it recently. Let him do it.Our party has its own cadre. We are a national party and will continue to work”.
