he DJ Halli police have arrested a gang of five youth who assaulted a 33-year-old man and his father after he foiled bike theft attempt in Shampura on Monday.
The accused Syed Saad,Usman khan,Syed Salman, Praveen and Santosh tried to steal the bike of Arun Kumar,parked outside the house.
Arun Kumar had left the key in the bike and was having lunch at the godown where he was working when the accused tried to steal the bike .
Hearing his bike sound,Arun Kumar rushed out and caught the accused and snatched the key from them agitated by this the accused assaulted Arun Kumar with a knife and threatened to set fire to his bike.
They even assaulted Arun Kumar’s father,Kalyani,who had come out to rescue his son and escaped .
The duo went to the hospital for treatment and filed a complaint with the police against the unknown people for trying to steal his bike and assaulted .
The accused returned to Arun Kumar in the evening and assaulted him again for complaining to the police and damaged the bike and the CCTV installed by BBMP to destroy the evidence .
The police swung into action and track down the accused and arrested them.While questioning them the police found that one of the accused Santosh had the photos of the tablets in his phone .
Out of curiosity when the police questioned they found that the accused was buying the tablets from a medical store to be used as alternative for drugs.Consuming the tablets in bulk give them high kick , the police said .
Based on their information,the police raided the medical store in electronic city and seized the tablets before alerting the drug control department for further action.
The accused have been booked under Prevention of Damage and destruction to public property,voluntary causing hurt,using dangerous weapons,Mischief with preparation for causing to any person death,or hurt,or wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation and intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace against them.
The accused have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody while further investigations are on.
It may be recalled that the in the first week of September, the Chamarajapet police have arrested a 16-year-old school drop out selling pain killer to the general public as substitute for drugs .
The police seized around 180 tablets from him which he was offering to sell it for Rs.100.The police found that a local peddler was using the minor boys to sell tablets as drugs .
