Abandoned suitcase found on highway in outskirts of Kolar created Panic among passers-by after inspecting found it was fitted with sensor alarm

An abandoned suitcase found on the highway in the outskirts of Kolar created a panic among the passers-by for four hours due to the alarm sound emitted from it on Wednesday morning .

Kolar police along with senior police officials rushed to the spot and cordoned the area before alerting the BDDS(Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad )team from Bengaluru.

The officials rushed to the spot and through X ray devise it was found that the suitcase was empty and detonated it using mild explosives .

The police recovered a circuit from the suitcase and after analysis from the expert it was concluded that it was sensor fitted suitcase which has a facility to alert the owner in case of any breach.

Superintendent of Police,B.Nikhil said that a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police,has been formed to probe on how the suitcase has landed their.The police are also trying to track down the owner of the suitcase to ascertain the facts .

The police suspect that someone might have stolen the suitcase and tried to open which triggered the alarm. Sensing danger they abandoned the suitcase and fled .

Panic gripped among the residents as the news of abandoned suitcase lying on National highway was spread like wild fire.

This incident also exposed the absence of BDDS team in the district.Mr.Nikhil clarified that though there is a trained BDS team present in the district,they lack advance level equipment to handle these kind of situation.

He further requested the people not to get panicked as the situation was handled well and everything in under control .
