Fire breaks out at private Hospital,16 patients shifted and had narrow escape after a fire broke out at basement

As many as 40 people including 16 patients admitted at a private hospital in Rajanakunte had a narrow escape after a fire broke out at the basement of a three storeyed private hospital in Rajanakunte

on Tuesday morning.

The fire noticed at the basement area near the lab of Raksha health care at around 9 am where heavy machineries were kept .

Soon smoke started from the basement area creating panic situations among the staff visitors and the patients .

The fire control room received a call at around 9.15 am following which six fire tenders rushed to the spot along with the Jurisdictional Rajanukunte police.

Meanwhile staff,visitors and residents staying in and around rushed to the help and shifted the patients and to evacuated the building before the fire tenders reached the spot .

According to the department,fire broke out at a lab in the basement of the 50-bedded private hospital.

Though the fire did not spread to the ground and the three upper floors of the building,the entire hospital was engulfed in thick smoke causing panic and uneasiness among patients,staff and visitors at the hospital.

The patients including two patients from the ICU unit were shifted to the nearest hospital and their condition is said to be stable.

“All patients are stable.Two of the staff members sustained superficial injuries while evacuating the building .

Few of the staff and visitors complained complained of uneasiness and suffocation because of the thick smoke engulfed the building .

The fire and emergency service teams struggled for two hours to bring the fire under control .

Though the electric short circuit suspected to be the cause of the fire,the police and the fire officials are probing to ascertain the exact reason behind the mishap.
