Autorickshaw driver arrested by HAL police for stealing gold from college student fleeing home

The HAL police on Tuesday arrested a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver from Vidyaranyapura who had robbed gold valuables from a college student who had run away from home .

According to the police,the college student ran away from home after being reprimanded by his father for moving around with a bad company.

He left home on April 2 and reached Puri Jagannathan temple where he was traced by a team of police based no a missing complaint tracked him down and reunited him with his family.

The family members after reunion found his gold valuables including a gold chain and gold ring were missing.

Upon Questioning he told the parents that while he was traveling in an autorickshaw to reach Majestic bus stand,he removed the valuables and kept in the bag .

On the way he stopped the autorickshaw driver to relieve himself,the driver had sped away with the bag.

Based on the complaint,the police, analyzed the CCTV footage and track down the accused identified as Sadiq alias Anil, from MS palya .

Based on his confession the police recovered the valuables which he had pawned at gold loan finance company in Vidyaranayapura worth ₹ 6.3 lakh.
