The Hebbagodi police on Sunday arrested a 25-year-old wall painter after his 17-year-old newly married wife ended her life due to alleged harassment .
Based on the complaint filed by officials of the district child welfare officials, the police arrested Vishal Kumar charging him under child marriage act and abetment to suicide .
According to the police, Vishal Kumar native of Bihar married to Nilam from his hometown last year and came to city alone to work here as wall painter.
Around 20 days ago Vishal got Nilam and the couple were living in Thirupalya in Hebbagodi .
The accused had forced to consummate the marriage against the wishes of the victim.
Unable to bear harassment the victim ended her life by hanging on March 13.
The police have registered a case of suicide and a detailed probe revealed that she was minor and the accused used to harass her sexually after getting her into the city said a senior officer.
