Shootout at Bengaluru Jewellery shop,Two injured as robbers open fire and flee leaving country made pistol

Red alert sounded across the city with a control room abuzz sharing details description of the four armed men who are on the run on two bikes after a foiled robbery .

A gang of four masked men armed with pistols barged into a jewellery shop in Kodigehalli and fired at two employee who foiled their attempt to rob,and escaped in a motorcycle in broad day light on Thursday.

The accused fired four rounds miffed with their foiled attempt to rob Laxmi Bankers and Jewellers situated at Lottegolahalli in Devinagara at around 11.15 am .

The owner of the shop Hapuram,38,along with the assistant Antharam,21,noticed four persons have entered the jewellery shop while two of them stood guard,two others gained entry pulled out the country made pistols and pointed at them demanding jewels and cash.

Sensing trouble the duo fought back in the melee the accused opened four rounds.Two rounds have hit Hapuram in the torso area and one round has hit Antharam in the leg.

As the residents and passers-by alerted with the firing sound,the accused sped away in a hurry dropped a country made pistol at the doorstep and sped away in the bikes waiting for them outside .

The injured were rushed to the MS Ramaiah Hospital, where they were being treated .

A woman owner of a provision shop close-by said that she was shocked with the gun shots followed by commotion.

I came out to see,few people are fleeing in motorcycle and Hapuram and Antharam crying from inside the shop for help, she said .

The gang was wearing helmets and caps and even covering their face with clothes,she said .

Another resident of a near-by apartment came out of his balcony hearing the gun shots and noticed accused fleeing in two bikes.I recorded their movement on my phone and shared with the police which can help them.

This is shocking and such development shows that the accused are not scared of the police .

The security measures need revamp and police should arrest the accused in the earliest and ensure that such incident should not be repeated said s resident to reporters.

Karnataka DG-IGP,Dr.Alok Mohan,City police commissioner,B.Dayananda,Addl CP East, Raman Gupta, DCP Northeast Lakshmi Prasad,with dog squad and other staff rushed to the spot and inspected the scene of crime after collecting stock of the situation, Commissioner B Dayananda,said that soon after the incident,Hoysala patrolling team reached the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital .

The police reached within minutes and put naka bandi check points across the city as part of preventive measures to track them down.

He further said that we have some clues on the accused and working on it to track down them.

The police suspect that the accused looks like from outside the state and going by their operation they are not professionals,he added.

Feb 2024: A gang of four armed with gun attempted to rob Arihant jewelers situated at Bhairaveshwara circle and escaped after the owner of the shop,Sishnu,locked them up in the cabin scared gang fled the scene without taking any valuables .

October 2023 :A gang of four armed men barged into Vinayaka Jewellers at Byadarahalli in Bengaluru,and opened fire at Manoj Lohar,owner before fleeing with one kilo of gold valuables.

The owner tried to resist the robbery following which one of the robbers opened fire at him,injuring his leg, while the others started to grab the valuables.

Aug 2019 :A jewellery shop in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval was foiled due to the alertness and quick-thinking of the owner. The incident happened at Samrat Jewels, a gold jewellery shop.Three men armed with guns entered the shop and opened fire,Rakhi threw a chair in response,which made the attackers flee.
