Central Institute of Education Celebrates 76th Foundation Day

New Delhi: The Central Institute of Education (CIE) (alias the Department of Education), University of Delhi celebrated its 76th Foundation Day on 19th December 2023 in the Anath Nath Basu auditorium. The programme commenced with the singing of ‘kulgeet’ of Delhi University. Formal inauguration of the event took place with lighting of the lamp by the eminent guests. Continuing the tradition, the invocation song ‘sangachhadhwam’ was sung by the choir. Professor Pankaj Arora, Head of the Department, on behalf of the CIE family, felicitated the guests and formally welcomed the honorable gathering. He presented the annual report of the Department for the academic year 2023, elucidating the major accomplishments and key initiatives of the department. Along with it he recounted the history and significance of the foundation day. During the event two books were released and excellence awards were given. The foundation day address was delivered by former Vice-chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia, Padma Shri Professor Najma Akhtar, the first women Vice-chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia Professor Najma Akhtar presented her views on topic “Education of Women in India: Learning from NEP 2020”. The program was presided over by Dr. Chand Kiran Saluja, Academic Director of the Sanskrit Promotion Foundation who gave the presidential remark. The program culminated with a vote of thanks by the staff secretary Dr. Pinkal R. Chaudhari followed by the National Anthem. Scrumptious community lunch was enjoyed by one and all before dispersal.
