Forest department officials arrested Three labourers from Odisha for hunting National Bird to consume its meat in Tumakuru

The forest department officials caught three labourers from Odisha for hunting national bird to consume its meat in the outskirts of Tumakuru on Saturday .

Based on a tip off,a team of officials led by Deputy Conservator of Forest,Tumakuru district,Anupama H, raided a brick factory in Panditanahalli and arrested the accused.

The accused have been identified as B.Nayak,44, Baishaku Daavu,41 and Duba Kaapath,38 from Belapura in Odisha and working in a brick factory for the last one month.

The trio are also professional hunters used to trap birds and animals using snares and net in the forest area.

The officials recovered 1.5 kilos of peacock meat and its feathers along with snares and net from them.

They were about to cook the meat when the officials raided and caught them in nick of time.

The accused are not aware of the illegal activities they were involved in and shocked to know that it is an offence to kill wild animals and birds .
