Mystery of “Stolen” BMTC bus shelter on Cunningham Road cracked by High grounds police; Shelter found in BBMP stockyard

The High grounds police have cracked the mystery of missing bus shelter and found that the bus shelter in the safe custody of BBMP godown.

Senior officer told reporters that they found that the complainant misrepresented the facts and gave wrong information,which has to be taken seroiusly and contemplating action against the complainant.

The complainant identified as Ravi Reddy,representing Signpost India agency,filed a complaint on September 28 that a bus-shelter which has been constructed on Cunningham road opposite cafe coffee day worth Rs.10 lakh has been stolen.

In his complaint Reddy said that he had approached the BBMP to seek details about the bus shelter before filing a complaint.

The news spread like a wild fire and the police at the receiving end for getting lot of criticism on social media.

The High grounds police swung into action and verified the CCTV footage before approaching the Executive engineer of the area for clarification.

The Executive Engineer reportedly told the police that he had observed during the routine inspection conducted on August 22 that the bus shelter was constructed not as per the standard and posing threat to the safety of people.

A notice was served to the company and the same has been communicated to Ravi Reddy through telephonic conversation seeking a copy of the permission granted to him by the BBMP.

Even after three days of when Reddy failed to submit the required documents,the officials removed the shelter considering the safety of passengers and stored it in the BBMP ward storage space in Shivajinagar.

The High grounds police have now intimated Reddy about the investigations,summoned him again for questioning.

The case will be closed and we will seek legal opinion to take action against false information.
