Medical student from Chennai arrested for creating fake Bengaluru City Police twitter account to post IPL scores

The Cyber crime police on Wednesday arrested a 19-year-old medical student from Chennai for creating a fake Bengaluru City police twitter account to post IPL scores .

The accused Magesh Kumar resident of Chetpet in Chennai was tracked down through IP address and arrested .

The accused was operating the account since February 2018 and posting IPL scores.Since the accused is a cricket (RBC team) fan,he started uploading the scores .

The accused was in assumption that he will not be traced and operating remotely and chose the name of the BCP to authenticate his post and get more views,a police officer, said .

Ravi Kumar MK,head constable with the social media wing,noticed the account and filed a complaint with the police seeking strict action against for misusing the name of the city police and tarnishing the image.

The accused was brought to the city,questioned to record his statement and released on bail ,Dr SD, Sharanappa, Joint commissioner of Police, ( crime), said.
