BJP state president Purandeshwari Vinathi tells Union Finance Minister to focus on informal loans being made by AP Govt.

Today, Delhi: AP BJP president Daggubati Purandeshwari has accused the Vaikapa government in Andhra Pradesh of not creating assets except taking debts and people are suffering due to lack of development in the state. He appealed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to focus on the debts incurred by the state government. On Thursday, she submitted a petition to this effect along with AP Party Affairs in-charge, Union Minister V. Muralidharan along with Finance Minister. Later she spoke to reporters. “By the time Telugu Desam came to power, the state had a debt burden of Rs. 97 thousand crores. By the time that government came down, the debt had reached Rs.3,62,375 crores. That means the net debt of TDP government in five years is Rs.2.64 lakh crores. From 2019 to July 18, 2023, the state government’s debt has reached Rs.10,77,006 crore. That means the net debt of Vaikapa government is Rs.7.14 lakh crores. Out of this, only Rs 2,39,716 crore was taken within the limits of FRBM as informed to RBI. It created huge debts by setting up corporations and mortgaging government assets. Vaikapa government should answer for unauthorized diversion of PF money of government employees. There have been reports in the press that AP Beverages Corporation is raising additional debt. There is no growth in debt. Unauthorized borrowing by the government does not come under the purview of FRBM. The state government is making money by selling cheap alcohol at high prices and claiming that it is giving freebies to the people. It doesn’t matter if women suffer or families collapse, they act as if they sell cheap liquor to fill their pockets and give away the proceeds as freebies. That is why I told Nirmala Sitharaman to focus on informal loans.
