50-year-old Assistant Sub Inspector attached to high grounds traffic station who sustained severe head injuries in a freak accident while on duty at Chalukya circle on Sunday succumbed to his injuries at Manipal hospital on Tuesday.
M Nagaraju was managing the traffic when an autorickshaw coming from palace roads moving towards Chalukya circle in a rash and negligent manner knock down Nagaraju and tried to escape.
However passers by chased the vehicle and intercepted the driver Shivakumar at Windsor manner junction before he was handed over to the police.
The severely injured Nagaraju,sustained head injuries and was rushed to Mallige hospital as it was head injury he was later shifted to Manipal hospital where he was admitted in ICU but he could not respond to the treatment and breathe his last.
Hails from Bisilahalli in Tumakuru district,Nagaraju was living with his wife and three daughters who are studying .
His colleagues and senior police officials paid their last respect on Tuesday.
Family members have even decided to donate his organs says senior officer.
