CID forest cell busted inter-state wild life trade four smuggling Alexandrine Parakeets arrested

The CID forest cell officials on Monday busted an inter state wild life trade and arrested four persons who were smuggling Alexandrine parakeets from the forest area of Tamil Nadu to various parts of the state.

Based on a tip off a team of police intercepted a private bus smuggling the birds and rescued them.

The officials later arrested the gang including Aburar, 27,from Chennai who worked as quality test rider at a tyre factory in Chennai and prime accused in the racket.

The police also arrested Guruvayurappan,40,a private bus driver from Chamgalpetem in Tamil Nadu,Mirza Mohammed Raza,20 Bcom student from Neelasandra and Krishna Chandrashekar, 24, farmer from Mandya.

The accused would catch the birds at forest area and send it to various parts of the state by private bus.The accused would then sell the birds to their contact who are usually having pet animal business .

The accused have been booked under various sections of wildlife protection act and taken into custody to ascertain their criminal network .
