Big shock to the state – ‘Ration at Door”scheme is not acceptable’, said the High Court

Abhijit Ray, Kolkata: The West Bengal Government got a big blowfrom the High Court. In view of the case filed by the dealers, the High Court claims that the Duare ration scheme is against the National Food Security Act. Court said that Duare Ration scheme( Ration at Door steps )  has no valid acceptability, it is considered to be illegal.Mamata Banerjee had promised to launch the door ration scheme before the 2021 assembly elections. That project was launched after coming to power after winning a large number of votes. Ration is being delivered to the area. Several dealers including Sheikh Abdul Majeed approached the single bench of the High Court to declare the project unconstitutional. However, that application was rejected. It was stated that door ration is neither illegal nor unconstitutional. After that, the dealers approached the Division Bench.On Monday, the division bench of the High Court ruled that the Duare ration scheme launched by the state is illegal. According to the court, this project is against the National Food Security Act. The state has launched such projects outside its jurisdiction. In other words, the state suffered a major blow in the High Court. According to sources, the state government may approach the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict. However, no information was received from the government in this regard.Incidentally, door ration was launched from November 16, 2021. As a result, people did not have to go to the store to get ration during Corona. Ration dealers used to reach specific areas of a neighborhood or region with supplies. Rations were distributed from there The High Court blocked this project.
