City based rescue and rehab center track down family of a 40-year-old mentally challenged man to his native Gorakhpura in Uttar Pradesh.
The victim,Sandeep Singh,was found by security personnel of Kempegowda International airport after he ventured into a restricted area of south parallel runway watch tower on July 31.
He was questioned by security staff and realized that he was unstable and brought to Sumans Ellen trust situated in Chinnappanahalli on Old Madras road run by Lakshmi Narayana for rehabilitation.
When Sandeep was brought he was unsound and also aggressive and only remember his name , Mr.Lakshmi Narayana recalled .
After repeated counselling and care,it was found that he was addicted to drugs and also have psychological disorders .
The trust members after many days of interaction gathered some details on his native place through the name of theatre,river and village name.
The members checked the internet with the available information and managed to contact an NGO,Janaseva Kendra and spoke to Vivek Kumar Singh,and got contacts of Sandeep’s family.
The family members though confirmed that Sandeep was their son through the photograph shared from the mobile,they declined to take him back as they are upset with his aggressive behavior and not interested to get him treatment .
Inquiries revealed that Sandeep,a high school drop out was addicted to drugs and his family got him married believing that he would mend his ways after marriage .
But Sandeep continue with his old habits and not working following which his wife dumped him and returned to her parents .
Sandeep become more aggressive and ran away from home 13 years ago.The police managed to trace him and reunited but he attacked his mother and escaped again before landing at the airport .
The Lakshmi Narayana called his brother Vijay Bahadur and after several rounds of counselling it was decided that the trust would rehabilitate Sandeep and get him treated at Nimhans hospital for few more months.
Even though,Vijay works as carpenter in Bengaluru city,he refused to take care of Sandeep.
It is sad to see how the world is changing and people are not accepting their blood relatives and things are very complicated .
The mother is angry and does not want her mentally challenged son while his own brother expressed helplessness to take care of him”, Lakshmi Narayana said adding that the trust decided to keep him and treat him to help him recover.
