he state government has released over Rs.300 crore as crop input subsidy in last one week following large-scale damage to crops due to heavy rains in the month of July and August,said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Talking to reporters after inaugurating the newly-built office of Commissioner of Police at a cost of Rs.18.50 crore on Police Parade Ground here on Saturday,he said the crop subsidy is released immediately after the receipt of report from the deputy commissioners.
Hitherto,this process was taking years together but now once loss was uploaded in software the crop input subsidy was disbursed to farmers sooner.
The government has fixed Rs.13,600 from Rs. 6800 per hectare as crop input subsidy for dry farming,from Rs.13,000 to Rs.25,000 for irrigated land and to Rs 28,000 from Rs.18,000 for horticulture crop per hectare.
This amount much more than the crop input subsidy as specified under NDRF guidelines.
UKP distribution of water
Asked about not issuing gazette notification for the use of water allocated in Upper Krishna Project by Krishna Water Tribunal,the CM said the matter was pending before the Supreme Court and two judges have recused from this case.
Recently,a new Chief Justice for the Supreme Court had been appointed and the advocates representing Karnataka were seeking the appointment of two judges to the bench.
Once water allocation is decided, the height of Almatti Dam will be raised to 524 meters and implement nine irrigation projects.
Arrangements will be made to release water into the canal after issuance of notification.
Maximum grants
Bommai said the government has released the maximum grant of Rs 3000 crore for Kalyana Karnataka Area Development Board after approving the action within four months.
Efforts are made for the implementation of all schemes in the current year.The long pending demand of shifting Hyderabad-Karnataka Cell has been fulfilled.
The CM said eight per cent reservation for the people of Kalyana Karnataka will be given in other parts of Karnataka in education, employment and promotion.
The hurdles in it have been removed.The residents of this region will get 8 per cent quota elsewhere in the state.
