Abhijit Ray, Kolkata.A tribal woman was detained and tortured for 8 years by Seema Patra, a BJP leader of Jharkhand. Expelled BJP leader Seema Patra has been arrested by the police for allegedly abusing the woman by keeping her hostage as a maid. Today, Argora police arrested him from his residence. Recently, since this inhumane incident came to the public, there have been demands for the arrest of the accused BJP leader.Seema Devi, however, denied all the allegations leveled against her. He also claimed that he is being framed for political reasons. The BJP has kept distance from Seema Devi ever since the incident came to light. Seema Patra was first expelled by the team for show cause and later. The party said that BJP never supports such people and actions.Seema Swami Maheshwar, a retired IAS officer, is one of the members of the National Working Committee of BJP’s Mahila Morcha in Jharkhand. Seema herself is a convenor of the Modi government’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. The Women’s Commission has requested the Jharkhand Police to investigate the matter and arrest Seema if necessary.
