Conman posing as Crime Branch officer booked for robbing scooter and mobile phone of employee of housing finance firm

The Subramanyapura police are on the lookout for a conman who posing as policeman from crime branch rob scooter and a mobile phone from a staff of a housing finance firm on the pretext of inquiry on Thursday.

The victim,Nagamma V,resident of Thavarekere and working in a finance firm received a call from a woman claiming to be from crime branch office.

After general inquiry,the accused claiming to be policeman from crime branch took the phone and informed Nagamma that her scooter was involved in the accident and he asked her to come and meet him near Ashoka pillar for inquiry.

The accused took the victim on her scooter around the city for two hours before reaching Uttarahalli main road.

The accused informed Nagamma to remove the gold valuables she was wearing and put it in a plastic cover he handed over to her .

Suspecting something fishy,Nagamma removed the valuables and kept in her bag she was carrying.

Failed to get the valuables,the accused diverted her attention and sped away with her scooter .

Nagamma raised alarm but before passers-by come to her rescue, the accused had disappeared .

Nagamma later approached the police and filed a complaint requesting to get back her vehicle along with the mobile phone she had kept in the boot space of the scooter.
