A 15-year-old mentally challenged drowned in a sump of an under construction house while playing in front of his house in Muneshwara Layout of Vaderahalli on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sai Sharan, son of Raju,a tailor residing in Muneshwara Layout.
According to Vidyaranyapura police,Sharan had gone out of the house to play around 5.30 pm, since he didn’t return home for a long time the parents went in search of him in the area.
At around 8 pm the family went near the water sump of an under construction building and found his body.
The sump was left open,and sharan suspected to have slipped in it while playing,a police officer, said .
Sharan was the younger son of the Raju couple. Raju is working as a tailor while his wife is a homemaker.
Sharan was survived by his parents and elder brother.
Sharan was under the treatment and attending special school near his house, the police said.
The building belonging to Renuka Srinivas has been under construction for the last 15 years. The sump was left open and water was filled in it.
Based on the complaint of the parents the police have taken the case of negligence causing the death against the owner for further investigations.
