The East division cyber crime police are on the lookout for a conman who befriended Senior Executive Assistant,Karnataka Urban Infrastructure development and Finance corporation Ltd,and made away with Rs.1.25 lakh offering to send gift .
The victim Shylaja A S,filed a complaint with the East cyber crime police on Wednesday stating that the accused befriended her online introducing himself as Micheal on June 13 and offered to send her gifts .
Two days later on June 15,the victim got a call from an unidentified man claiming that he is from customs department and there is a gift in her name .
The man asked her to pay custom charges,GST and transportation charges and made her to transfer Rs.1.25 lakh through google pay and phone pay.
The fraud came to light when the victim did not receive the parcel as promised and try to call the number which was not reachable .
Realzing that she is duped,the victim approached the police and filed a complaint.
The Cyber crime police are now trying to track down the accused based on the technical inputs said a senior officer.
