Armed gang killed a security guard by stragulating him with the muffler he was wearing before robbing the Tumkur district cooperative central bank limited in Tumkur in the wee hours of Monday.
Senior officer as,Tumakuru SP,Rahul Kumar Shahpurwad along with other officials visited the spot and supervised the investigation.
Rahul Kumar Shahpurwad after inspecting the area told reporters,The accused gained entry using the gas cutter, ransacked the bank and escaped with cash Rs.2.6 lakh and some documents .
The accused have also damaged the CCTV cameras to destroy the evidence.The deceased Siddappa, aged about 55, joined duty seven months ago and was guarding the bank.
He spoke to his wife on Sunday 10 pm last time . Police assumed that the way the robbery is committed it looks like the gang is professional and carried a well planned robbery.
The incident occurred when the house keeping staff came to work and noticed the door was broken and security guard lying dead .
The Hebbur police rushed to the spot and pressed dog and finger print experts squad into action a case has been registered and special teams have been formed to nab the culprits he added.
