Probe into family suicide shows,toddler died of strangulation,not starvation

Four among the five members of a family who allegedly ended life over a family dispute at their house in Byadarahalli on September 17 have been booked by the Byadarahalli police for murder of nine-month-old yet to be named baby boy .

The deceased Bharathi (51) and her three children,Sinchana (34),Sindhurani (31) the mother of the baby boy,and Madhusagar (25) were found hanging in different rooms. Police also found the body of the nine-month-old baby boy – Sindhurani’s son,on the bed.

However a two-and-half year old girl who was found unconscious,survived miraculously and was rescued .

The police found three death notes from separate rooms in the houses, reportedly written by the deceased accusing the owner of the house H Shankar,of constantly harassing them.

The police seized laptops,mobile phones,CCTV and other electronic equipment to corroborate with the claim made in the death notes .

Initial probe from the scene of crime suggested that the toddler was strangled to death since the facial bone of the boy was fractured and the ligature mark found on the neck.

However the post-mortem and FSL report confirmed the cause of death,following which the police have registered a case.

Meanwhile the reason behind the extreme step is still being probed and police have recovered laptop and mobile phones of Shankar for analysis.

The deceased family members alleged Shankar of harassment and ill treatment towards them. It was also alleged that he was having extra marital affairs, as the reason for their extreme step .

A case of 302 is registered against the other deceased in the house (Byadarahalli)for the death of the toddler.Evidence shows the death happened due to strangulation”, a senior police officer,part of the investigations said.
