SHRI SUMIT THAKUR TAKES OVER AS NEW CHIEF PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER OF WESTERN RAILWAY

Shri Sumit Thakur taking charge as Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly on 13th July, 2020 at his office at Churchgate.Shri Sumit Thakur (IRSE) took charge of Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway at his office at W.Rly’s HQs at Churchgate station building on 13th July, 2020.

Shri Thakur is an officer of the Indian Railways Service of Engineering of 2010 batch and has worked in various important assignments pertaining to track maintenance & smooth operation of Mumbai’s suburban trains, especially during monsoon season, as Senior Divisional Engineer (South) of Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway. His role as Sr.DEN (South) of Mumbai Central division, particularly holds distinction for ensuring suitable identification of vulnerable flooding spots over WR’s Mumbai suburban section and fixing them with best customized solutions during the years 2018 & 2019, which was highly appreciated by administration at different levels.

Shri Thakur’s contribution towards improving riding quality with enhanced engineering standards and betterment of track maintenance through systematic planning & effective execution of mega blocks, won him various prestigious awards including the most coveted GM AWARD twice in year 2015 & 2019. Shri Thakur has completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering in the year 2009 from the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Patna. He has also done masters in structural Engineering from IIT Delhi in year 2011. He joined Railway service as Assistant Divisional Engineer of WR’s Mumbai Central Division in 2012 & worked in this capacity up to June, 2015.

Then from July, 2015 to July, 2017 he well performed as Divisional Engineer of Rajkot division of WR. Afterwards, he was posted again in Mumbai Central division of WR, where he has rich experience of working as Divisional Engineer & Sr Divisional Engineer (South). Shri Thakur has also undergone the special training course regarding high speed trains at Japan in 2017. Prior to his posting as CPRO/ WR, he was working as Sr DEN (South) in Mumbai Central Division of WR. He has keen interest in creative excellence along with fields of music, movies & sports.
