NCC Cadets Distribute 2500 Hand Stiched Masks For Needy At 21 Towns In Gujarat

Continuing with its efforts towards Covid-19 and Exercise NCC Yogdan, the NCC cadets distributed a total of 25000 handmade masks to DMs/ SDMs/ hospitals for needy people at 21 different locations in Gujarat. This is in addition to 10000 masks already distributed during deployment. Five Group HQs under Gujarat Directorate distributed 5000 masks each in their areas. Districts mainly included Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Kheda, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Bhuj, Porbandar, Junagarh etc. In this week, NCC cadets enthusiastically participated in “Hu Pan Corona Warrior” campaign launched by Chief Minister Shri Vijay Bhai Rupani. On 22 May 20, they clicked photos with their grandparents showing care for the vulnerable. On 24 May 20, they spread awareness about Mask Suraksha and on 26 May 20, they spread awareness on benefits of Aarogya Setu app. Their enthusiasm was greatly appreciated by people and elicited huge response from people.

Deployment of cadets under Exercise NCC Yogdan commenced on 08 Apr 20 and terminated on 19 May 20, after a period of 43 days. During this period, on an average 500-550 cadets, 60 Associate NCC Officers and 80 Permanent Instructors were deployed at 31 towns covering 18 Districts on daily basis under the scorching heat. Volunteer cadets under supervision of NCC officers and supervisors have mainly been deployed for queue and traffic management, distribution of relief material, medicines, food essentials commodities, packaging of food, data management and assistance to senior citizens.

Those who were not deployed engaged themselves on social media and made innovative educational videos and messages for the benefit of the people. These videos were appreciated by netizens. Till date 13956 cadets, 566 ANOs 535 PI staff and 56 offrs have downloaded the Aarogya Setu App and the process is continuing.

Governorshri of Gujarat Shri Acharya Devvrat complimented the NCC cadets for their excellent contribution during Exercise NCC Yogdan. Similar views were echoed by Shri Bhupendrasinh Chudasama State Education Minister. Additionally, district administration, NGOs, local populace and educational institutions felicitated the cadets at various locations for their selfless service towards the nation, thus, making Exercise NCC Yogdan a grand success in Gujarat.
