Dreaded Chain-Snatcher and his associates arrested,Stolen property Worth of Rs.17.60 lakhs recovered by Basavanagudi police :

The South Division police of Basavanagudi police have arrested habitual offender Mohammed Rafeeq and his associates wanted in more than 50 cases.

The dreaded habitual robber is a most wanted criminal who has escaped from the clutches of police while they were taking him to sub jail in November 2019.

The accused has been identified as,Mohammed Rafeeq,30,a resident of Dakshina Kannada district,Imran Khan,35, from Shivamogga and two receivers identified as,Anees PT, 30 and Shafeeq, both from Kerala,Their fifth associate, Syed, is still absconding.

On February 25,Rafeeq and another associate Imran Khan robbed a 67-year-old woman of her gold ornaments worth Rs 3.3 lakh on the Old Market Road in Basavanagudi.The police while checking the CCTV footage found that it was the same accused,who had escaped from the police custody.

The Basavanagudi police inspector Kempegowda and his special team after collecting all the information about the criminal based on technical evidence the team successfully nabbed four persons and recovered 422 grams of gold jewelry worth of Rs.17.60 lakhs.

DCP South,Dr.Rohini Katoch Sepat,told media persons that last month there was two chain snatching incidents reported from the Basavanagudi market road in which two vicitms were robbed with their gold chains in which one victim’s Mangalsutra was snatched from her neck worth of Rs.3.3 lakhs while she was returning from a function.

As soon as the incident took place to stop this menace a special team was formed by ACP Jayanagar,Shanthamallapa under the supervision of PI,Basavanagudi,Kempegowda and his team swung into action.

The team visited the crime scene and after collecting information from the eye-witnesses and based on technical evidence the team cracked the case. Acting on credible Information about the hideout about the accused our team headed to Mysuru and zeroed in on most wanted and dreaded criminal Mohammed Rafeeq on 6th March.

After arresting the notorious chain snatcher our team grilled him and based on his statement our team arrested his associate Imran Khan, and a detailed investigation by the team has led to the arrest of two receivers to whom they used to sell the booty from Kerala and based on their statement the team recovered about 422 grams of gold from the accused.

Rohini Katoch Sepat,even said,Rafeeq the main accused,had escaped from the police custody while being taken to the court.He has several cases against him in Bengaluru.We are looking at his involvement in other cases too.

A case has been registered in Basavanagudi police station and further investigation is on and finally Bengaluru Police Commissioner,Bhaskar Rao,Addl CP West,Soumendhra Mukherjee,has appreciated,DCP,South,Dr Rohini Katoch Sepat,ACP,Jayanagar Sub-Divsion,Shanthamalappa,PI,Kempegowda and his team as,PSIs,as,Ms.Reshma,Puttamadhayya, Naveen Kumar and their whole crime staff who has nabbed the notorious habitual robber and his associates wanted in many cases across city and a suitable reward will be given to the team for cracking the case she added.
