NEW DELHI, April 30—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Smt. Sheila Dikshit, who is the Congress candidate for the North East Delhi Parliamentary constituency, said that she fully understands the difficulties of the voters, particularly the women voters, as before entering active politics, she had played the role of a devoted mother and a housewife. She said that she realizes the anger and helplessness of the people affected by the sealing and demolition drive, as these reckless moves by the BJP and AAP Governments have ruined the lives of lakhs of people. She said that these drives have particularly affected the mothers and their children, as they stare at an uncertain future with anxiety.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit today made extensive tour of her constituency, interacting with the people to seek their votes and support for her in the Lok Sabha election. She visited the Shiv Vihar tiraha, near dispensary, Mustafabad and Gali No 1, Vikas Samiti, Durgapuri.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit said that due to the shadow boxing and theatrics by the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party, the people of Delhi have been driven to the edge of ruin. She said that when the sealing and demolition drives were being carried out, the BJP MP from the area kept a blind eye, instead of taking up the issue with the authorities and finding a satisfactory solution to save the livelihood of lakhs of people, as North East Delhi was one of the worst to be affected by drive. She said that the BJP Government at the Centre did nothing to stop the sealing and demolition drive, which could have easily saved the livelihood of lakhs of people, and protect the jobs of several lakhs of workers. She said the actor-neta of the BJP, who is the MP of the area, only indulged in lip service instead of initiating strong action to stop the sealing drive.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit, who was the Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years spread over three terms, knows the pulse of the people, and had yet another day of hectic electioneering in North East Delhi, to have direct interaction with the people. Wherever she went, she got overwhelming support from the people, and they assured her that they would only vote for her, to ensure a Congress sweep of the Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. She reminded the people that in 2006, when the Congress was in power in Delhi as well as at the Centre, such a situation had arisen due to the sealing and demolition drive. But the Congress Government took quick and effective steps to bring an Ordinace to stop the drive, to save lakhs of people from ruin, and protect their livelihood. She said that the BJP and the AAP Governments only shed crocodile tears without taking prompt steps to stop the sealing and demolition drive. Smt. Sheila Dikshit said that the Modi Government at the Centre only helped the rich and powerful industrialist friends while they stood and stared when small traders and industrial unit holders were being destroyed through the sealing and demolition drive.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit assured the people of North East Delhi that as soon as a Congress Government takes charge at the Centre, prompt steps would be taken to stop the sealing and demolition drive for ever. She assured that the small traders and the industrial unit holders of the area would not have to live under perpetual fear of the sword of anxiety hanging over them, and they would be allowed to carry out their livelihood without any hurdles.
Smt. Sheila Dikshit said that the Congress party has always stood by the small traders and small industrial unit holders and the Congress policy would continue to be the same as the party’s main aim is to save the livelihood of the people, and protect the jobs of lakhs of workers. She said that she would always stand by the people and spare no effort to protect their interest.
