The South division police have set up two ‘Pink Outposts’ one in Basavangudi and one in Jayanagar in a bid to provide more security near women’s colleges.
The indeed initiative for the safety of women in and around college premises was Innaugrated by DCP South Zone,Dr.S.D.Sharanappa along with ACP,Sreenivas,PIs as,Uma Mahesh,Bharath,WPSI,Reshma with other crime staff was too present at this event.
“These outposts will be equipped with four CCTV cameras and only women police will be deployed. Women who are nearby and if they face any kind of harassment can immediately report to the nearest outpost. They don’t have to file a written complaint.
Safety of women in India has been a big concern in recent years.Bengaluru once considered a safe city is no longer so.Owing to these concerns the Bengaluru Police have come up with a new initiative.

Dr.S.D.Sharanappa, DCP South Zone told media persons that,we have opened pink outposts to provide security to college girls.Two women police personnel are from 8am to 8pm.These girls can easily approach our ladies staff if they are facing any problems.The police deployed at the outpost has even interacted with few girls and have explained them the benefits.Though Pink Hoysalas are deployed in most parts of the city near colleges, this will add in tightening security he added.
Many college girls said that we thank police for the such a wonderful initiative and we welcome this initiative and it is a very wonderful gift for women from the police department on international women’s day, another student said first it was very far to go and complaint to police station but now we can approach them near by our college only without any hesitation, another student said This will help in holding the perpetrators accountable immediately they added.
The police also have plans to set up similar outposts near other women’s colleges, like Mount Carmel College at Vasanth Nagar and Jyothi Nivas College at Koramangala. Of late, there has been an increase in instances where men have been caught flashing and even masturbating in front of women’s colleges.
