he Whitefield police has booked a techie for cheating hundreds of job seekers through his consultancy firm .
Based on the complaint filed by one of the victim,M. Ashok Kumar,the police charged Pawan Kumar and 17 of his associates under criminal breach of trust and cheating on Tuesday.
Ashok Kumar,a B tech graduate and working as data scientist in an IT firm was introduced to the accused through a friend.
The accused went through his resume and interviewed offering high paying job as data scientist with a training and placement in September this year.
The accused also asked him to pay Rs.1.10 lakh towards different fee and gave him appointment letter with a work from home option.
The cheating came to light when Ashok Kumar did not get any response from the accused for training or assignment not there was any proper response.
On suspicion when he went to the office he found 18 others gathered at the office and complaining that they have been cheated in a similar way.
Ashok Kumar in his complaint includes the names of the victims and the money paid estimated to be around Rs. 24. 4 lakh.
The police suspected that the accused might have cheated many more and probe is on to ascertain the exact amount of cheating said a senior officer.
