Delhi :The International Council for Journalists (ICJ) has terminated the appointment of its Kerala Region president, Mr. Raveendran, a local journalist of Cover Story with immediate effect and directed him to refund money allegedly received for establishing and operating the organisation’s Kerala office.
In a notice dated August 26, 2026, ICJ President- Dr. Vipin Gaur alleged that Rs.1.75 lakh was received by Raveendran in 2024 from ICJ National Director Binish Thomas towards the proposed establishment and functioning of the Kerala office.
According to the notice, despite repeated communications and follow-ups, Raveendran allegedly failed to provide satisfactory accounts, supporting documents or clarification on the establishment of the office and utilisation of the funds.
The organisation has also referred to complaints alleging that money was collected from individuals using the ICJ’s name, designation and identity without proper authorisation.
ICJ said it was taking the allegations seriously and reserved the right to initiate appropriate action after verification.
Following his termination, Raveendran has been directed to immediately stop identifying himself as an ICJ office-bearer, representative or authorised functionary.
He has also been prohibited from using the organisation’s name, logo, letterhead or designation, or collecting money in its name without prior written authorisation.
The notice further directs him to submit a detailed written clarification and records relating to the utilisation of the money.
He has been given 15 days from the date of receipt of the notice to refund the amount and submit the required documents.
The ICJ warned that failure to comply or continued unauthorised use of its name could result in civil and/or criminal legal action before the competent authorities or law-enforcement agencies.
People are cautioned to beware of this person Raveendran if he tries to blackmail or threaten anyone please report to ICJ office bearers immediately .
