*BSWML Chief Operations Officer Ramamani announced that a massive cleanliness drive has been organized in the limits of the BBMP from 21st April 2025 to 30th April 2025.*
*Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar has directed the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd.,(BSWML) to organize a massive cleanliness drive across the city before the monsoon season.
Accordingly, a “Cleanliness Drive” will be organized for 10 days from 21st April 2025 to 30th April 2025 in all the wards falling under the 8 zones of BBMP.
Citizens are throwing waste in public places like roadsides,footpaths and vacant lots, which is not only damaging the beauty of the city but also damaging the environment.
In this regard,waste dumping sites across the city have already been identified and a program has been formulated to clean all the sites at once.
With the participation of the public,non-governmental organizations,resident welfare associations,apartment owners’ associations,and volunteer groups the goal is to clean roads, footpaths, medians of roads, and public places across the city within 10 days.
In addition,raids will be conducted on industries/shops using single-use plastic products, and action will be taken to control single-use plastic.
*Clearance of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste:
Appropriate measures are also being taken to control Construction and demolition (C&D) waste in the city. Action will be taken to completely clear the Construction and demolition (C&D) waste dumped in vacant lots.
*Awareness work among citizens:*
Necessary steps are being taken in all 8 zones under BBMP limits to create awareness among citizens against dumping waste in public places. Awareness will be created through loudspeakers in auto tippers that collect waste.
The cleanliness campaign will be carried out using the necessary resources with the participation of BBMP, BSWML, non-governmental organizations, welfare development associations, and the public.
