IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar,questioned by the CID in connection with the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) recruitment irregularities and question paper leak case, has allegedly blamed arrested middleman Basavaraj Kannale for the entire paper leak operation.
During questioning,Gangwar reportedly told CID officials that he had no direct role in the scam and that Kannale was the main person behind the irregularities.
According to sources,Gangwar told investigators that he had never directly spoken to any of the candidates and had not negotiated any financial transactions with them.
“All financial dealings and negotiations with the candidates were handled by Basavaraj Kannale.I only carried out certain tasks on his instructions,”he reportedly told the CID.
Gangwar also allegedly identified Kannale as the person who had negotiated the question paper leak deal.
However,the IAS officer is said to have denied directly taking the printed question paper out of the system.
He reportedly told the CID that he did not personally remove the final printed question paper.
During the questioning,Gangwar allegedly made a startling revelation that around 60% of the questions had already been prepared before the question paper was printed.
Sources said he told investigators that the series of questions prepared in advance was later used for printing the final question paper after receiving the necessary instructions and approval.
Gangwar reportedly admitted before the CID that the question paper was printed only after he gave his consent and approval,raising further questions about the extent of his role in the alleged KPSC recruitment scam.
The CID is now expected to confront Gangwar with the statements and evidence collected against Basavaraj Kannale and other suspects to establish the chain of communication and responsibility in the question paper leak.
