Tension prevailed in Basavanagudi after a clash broke out between two groups on K.R. Road near Bharathi Nursing Home during an Eid Milad procession on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in front of the office of pro Hindu activist, Puneeth Kerehalli, triggering a protest by his associates , who condemned the alleged assault and demanded action against those responsible.
The trouble began when a group taking part in the eid milad procession allegedly raised slogans. An argument over the slogans reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation between two groups, which later turned violent.
A youth identified as Murali was allegedly assaulted during the clash and sustained serious bleeding injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Following the incident, Puneeth Kerehalli and his supporters staged a protest in front of his office, condemning the alleged assault.
The protest led to tension and disruption on K.R. Road.
The Basavanagudi police rushed to the spot and dispersed the gathering to bring the situation under control.
Senior officers as Commissioner of police,Seemant Kumar Singh,Joint CP West, C Vamsi Krishna,CCB DCP with Additional Police personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent any further escalation.
Meanwhile, hundreds of Hindu activists gathered outside the Basavanagudi police station, demanding immediate and stringent action against those responsible for the incident.
