An international organisation associated with the United Nations is set to honour Binish Thomas with the prestigious Best Investigative Journalist Award.
Senior journalist Binish Thomas has been selected for the ‘Best Investigative Journalist’ award in the international affairs category, the International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) said.
The International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) is an organization recognized by the United Nations and the International Bar Association.
In a statement issued on August 21, the organization’s jury said that Bineesh Thomas has been selected for the prestigious international award.
The organization praised his commitment to journalism with a focus on public interest, reporting on issues related to national security, public interest, global threats and accountability.
He said that he has been distinguished for upholding the ethical values and integrity of journalism.
It is noteworthy that he has given utmost importance to the truth of the matter and the public interest while reporting on sensitive issues without giving priority to bias.
The organization said that he has adhered to professional values by not misusing private life issues, nor using journalism as a tool for rumor or intimidation.
The organization has recognized his continuous efforts on the need for strong laws to protect journalists in India and Africa, and his continuous efforts for the safety, dignity and professional freedom of journalists.
Binish Thomas has been selected for the award considering his commitment, courage, integrity and contribution to the field of journalism, said Dr. Nem Singh Premi, President of the International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) in a statement.
The award ceremony will be held in January 2027 at the organization’s headquarters in New York, USA, and Binish Thomas has been invited to receive the award, the letter said.
