Chief Minister DK Shivakumar enthusiastically participated in the “Freedom Festival”held in Vidhana Soudha on Saturday as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
Carrying the Tricolour on his shoulders, the Chief Minister walked along the road in front of Vidhana Soudha.
Nurses from different places,members of the Women’s Awareness Committee and representatives of the Waste Pickers Association joined him in the march.The CM waved to the youth, children and parents gathered along both sides of the road.
A Sikh man wearing a turban and playing the trumpet welcomed the Chief Minister.Shivakumar also shook hands with a Sikh child wearing a patka.
He later visited the“Freedom Wall”and signed autographs.
He played the instrument which was with the children who performed the traditional Byaari dance,adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Chief Minister also visited exhibition stalls showcasing the culture of various districts of Karnataka and learnt about their contributions to the freedom struggle.
He interacted with women and young girls dressed in costumes representing different states and infused them with enthusiasm.
At the stalls,he mingled with children and posed for photographs with people dressed as Kittur Rani Chennamma and Sangolli Rayanna.
The Chief Minister also visited the photo booth at Vidhana Soudha and posed for photographs, adding to the celebratory spirit of the Freedom Festival.
