*When Bengaluru Comes Together,Let There Be Music!.
What if one of Bengaluru’s most iconic landmarks became the city’s concert stage for Independence Day? On August 15,the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha will come alive with music as Freedom Habba’s Music Collective brings together ten of the city’s most loved and familiar musical voices for a special evening of celebration.
Beginning at 6 pm,the specially created stage on the steps of Vidhana Soudha will host Sanjith Hegde, Brodha V,Raghu Dixit,Siddhartha Belamannu,Varijashree Venugopal,Harish Sivaramakrishnan,Praveen Rao,MD Pallavi,Nakul Abhyankar and Bruce Lee Mani—turning a landmark associated with Karnataka’s public life into a space for Bengaluru’s people to gather, listen, sing along and celebrate.
The evening is designed to be more than a music concert. It is about experiencing Independence Day in a distinctly Bengaluru way with the city’s music, culture, traditions and people coming together in one shared public space.
Families, young people, music lovers and citizens from across Bengaluru will have an opportunity to experience an evening where the familiar grandeur of Vidhana Soudha meets the energy of live music.
As the sun sets and the lights come on,the steps of the iconic building are expected to offer a memorable setting for an open-air celebration unlike the usual Independence Day programme.
“Independence Day should be experienced not just as a ceremony, but as a celebration we create together. What better way to bring Bengaluru together than through music, in a place that belongs to all of us?”said Krishna Byre Gowda Bengaluru Development Minister.
“The Freedom Habba is an invitation to every Bengalurean to come out, celebrate and be part of the city’s shared spirit.”
That is also the larger idea behind Freedom Habba to make Independence Day a citizen-led celebration, rather than simply a ceremonial occasion. Conceived as a city-wide celebration, the Habba seeks to create meaningful experiences through music, culture, traditions, participation and togetherness, giving Bengaluru’s residents an opportunity to celebrate the city and the country together.
The Music Collective is an important part of that idea: bringing artists and citizens together in one of Bengaluru’s most recognisable public spaces and making the celebration something people can experience, participate in and remember.
With “One city. One spirit. One unforgettable evening”as its theme, the Music Collective promises to give Bengaluru a very different Independence Day memory ten distinctive musical voices, one extraordinary setting and thousands of citizens coming together on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha.
On August 15,as the music begins at 6 pm,one of Bengaluru’s most recognisable landmarks will belong, for an evening,to the people of the city.
