*Discussion on Heat Resilience,Cool Roofing,Miyawaki Forests,Cool Bus Shelters and Other Measures*
A meeting on the‘Heat Intervention Plan’was held today under the chairmanship of Pommala Sunil Kumar, Commissioner,Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC),with the objective of effectively addressing heat-related challenges within the BNCC jurisdiction.
The meeting discussed the design of heat-resilience measures, implementation strategies and various interventions aimed at reducing heat intensity and providing greater protection to the public.
Discussion on Various Heat Mitigation Measures:
Under the Heat Intervention Plan,discussions were held on implementing various measures,including cool roofing,net-zero multi-hazard centres,Miyawaki forests and cool bus shelters.
The meeting also discussed providing public toilets and toilets in parks,along with drinking water facilities in parks, for the convenience of citizens.
Focus on Coordinated Implementation:
The meeting discussed designating concerned officials as Nodal Officers for effective implementation of the Heat Intervention Plan and ensuring coordination with various departments and partner organisations.
Rs.5 Crore Funding to Strengthen Heat Resilience Measures:
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will provide ₹5 crore in funding,and the meeting emphasised the effective utilisation of the funds to successfully implement programmes under the Heat Intervention Plan.
The meeting emphasised the need for comprehensive measures to strengthen the capacity of Bengaluru North City Corporation to address heat-related challenges,with a focus on public safety and convenience.
