The family of 23-year-old Manasa,a postgraduate student of Bengaluru University who died after being knocked down by an autorickshaw inside the Jnanabharathi campus, has been provided Rs.10 lakh in financial assistance by the government.
Of the total amount,Rs.3 lakh has been sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,while Bengaluru University has provided another Rs.7 lakh towards her medical expenses.
Manasa,a native of Nanjangud in Mysuru district,was pursuing her first-year postgraduate course in the Department of Visual Arts at Bengaluru University.
The accident occurred on July 30 when Manasa was crossing the road near the canteen on Gandhi Road inside the Jnanabharathi campus.
A speeding autorickshaw allegedly hit her, leaving her critically injured.
She was rushed to a private hospital in Nagarabhavi, where she was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.Despite efforts to save her, Manasa succumbed to her injuries on Thursday,August 6.
Expressing condolences over the untimely death of the student,the government extended financial assistance to support her family during the difficult period.
