Hassan :A 41-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife over suspicions of an extramarital affair before dying by suicide in Hassan district. The incident occurred in Kesagodu village in Belur taluk,under the jurisdiction of Arehalli Police Station.
The deceased woman has been identified as Gagana (38), while the accused,who later died by suicide,was identified as Raghu (41).
According to preliminary information,Gagana was a native of Sanenahalli village in Halebidu hobli,while Raghu hailed from Kesagodu village in Bikkodu hobli.
The couple had been married for 13 years and had two sons aged 12 and 6.They were running a bakery and living in Chikkamagaluru.
On Friday (July 31), Raghu reportedly left for Kesagodu with his wife in a car.After reaching the village around 6.30 pm, he allegedly made a video call to his relatives claiming that he had killed his wife, accusing her of having an illicit relationship.
Police suspect that Raghu murdered Gagana inside the car and disposed of her body,believed to have been thrown into the Yagachi canal.
A search operation has been launched to trace the woman’s body.
After allegedly disposing of the body,Raghu parked the car in Kesagodu village and died by suicide by hanging himself from a roadside tree.
Arehalli Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
