The Karnataka State Women’s Commission has sought a detailed report from the Health Department regarding allegations that nude photographs and videos of deceased women were recorded and circulated on social media at the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS).
According to the commission, the disturbing incident involved the unauthorized photographing and videographing of women’s bodies brought to the mortuary after deaths caused by illness or accidents.

The images and videos were allegedly shared on social media platforms, triggering outrage and concerns over the dignity and privacy of the deceased.
Taking serious note of the matter, the Women’s Commission directed the concerned authorities to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. The commission also called for appropriate action against those found responsible.
The controversy came to light after allegations surfaced against Munir Ahmed,an attendant working at the BRIMS mortuary.Hospital authorities subsequently lodged a police complaint.
Dr.Mohsin-ul-Haq,head of the hospital’s forensic medicine department, said the accused had allegedly been working as an attendant on an outsourced basis for several years.
Upon learning of the incident, the hospital initiated internal monitoring and informed law enforcement authorities.
Officials stated that investigators are examining whether the accused personally uploaded the content through fake social media accounts or whether others were involved in circulating the material.
Hospital authorities condemned the act, stating that it violated the dignity of deceased women, caused distress to their families, and compromised the institution’s ethical and privacy standards.
Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),and further investigation is underway.
