A city-based diploma holder has alleged that he was cheated of Rs.4.3 lakh by a visa consultancy firm that promised him a logistics job in the United States but failed to deliver.
According to the complaint filed at Vishwanathpura police station by the victim,who holds a diploma in mechanical engineering and has around five years of experience in logistics,was seeking overseas employment opportunities.
In September 2025,he approached Ardent Visas Consulting Pvt. Ltd.,located in Rajajinagar.
A representative identified as Mamatha Shankar allegedly assured him of a logistics job in the United States and claimed the firm would handle visa processing, flight tickets,and accommodation.
Believing the assurances, the complainant initially paid ₹50,000 as advance on September 17, 2025.
Subsequently,he transferred another ₹3 lakh via RTGS to a bank account provided by the accused.Later,he was asked to pay an additional ₹80,000 for flight arrangements.
The firm reportedly provided him with a visa and flight ticket.As per the itinerary,he travelled from Bengaluru to Hyderabad and then onward via Dubai to Yerevan, Armenia,in November 2025.
However,upon arrival, the victim alleged that he was received by another agent who informed him that no logistics job was available and instead offered him low-paying construction work.When he refused,he was asked to find a job on his own.
After failing to secure employment,he returned to India, spending additional money on travel.Despite repeated requests,the accused allegedly failed to refund the amount.
The complainant has accused Mamatha Shankar and her associate Syed of cheating him under the pretext of providing overseas employment.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 316(2) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023,and taken up investigation.
