The Karnataka Police Chief has issued a circular directing all senior police officers to maintain the phone numbers of elected representatives and respond promptly to their calls regarding public issues.

In a circular issued by the office of the Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP),officers have been instructed to keep the contact numbers of Members of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Karnataka Legislative Council,Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha.

The directive states that when elected representatives call, officers must attend the call. If they are engaged in other official duties and unable to answer immediately, they must return the call after completing the duty and appropriately respond to issues raised by the representatives.

The circular refers to an earlier directive issued by the Government of Karnataka through the Chief Secretary on January 21,2026,which instructed officials to maintain better coordination with public representatives.

Copies of the circular have been sent to Additional Directors General of Police handling wings such as KSRT,Law and Order,C&TS, Administration and GCHR,as well as Inspectors General of Police,Deputy Inspectors General and other unit heads for necessary action.
