Attempt to Murder on Police:Accused Sentenced to 7 Years Rigorous Imprisonment,Rs.25,000 Fine

A city court has sentenced a man to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.25,000 for attempting to murder police personnel in a case registered at the Govindapura Police Station.

The convicted accused,Mohammed Saleem,was involved in a serious attack on police officers on June 24, 2021.

According to the prosecution,police received credible information that Saleem was travelling in a car along the service road of the Outer Ring Road from Hennur Signal towards Nagawara.

Acting on the tip-off, a police team intercepted the vehicle near the Forest Office at HBR Layout.

During the interception,the accused allegedly attempted to flee and attacked police personnel with a knife in his possession.

A case was subsequently registered at Govindapura Police Station under sections relating to attempt to murder and relevant provisions of the Arms Act.

The investigation was carried out under the supervision of the then DCP (East Division) Dr.Sharanappa SD,IPS.

The probe was led by Inspector,Kiran Kumar B.Nayak, then serving at DJ Halli Police Station,who collected substantial evidence and filed a detailed charge sheet before the court.

PSI Mohammed Ali Imran played a key role in tracing and arresting the accused.Court process staff and witnesses ensured his production before the court during trial proceedings.

The Government Prosecutor Shivakumar effectively represented the State,resulting in the conviction.Upon conclusion of the trial,the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.25,000.
