Brutal chain snatching caught on CCTV women dragged on ground by bike borne miscreants and made away with 15 gms mangalsutra chain worth Rs.1.2 Lakhs

Two unidentified men riding a motorcycle allegedly snatched a gold mangalsutra from a 39-year-old woman in Doddabidarakallu near Nagasandra in the early hours of Wednesday.

The incident occurred around 5.15 am on August 12, when Vijiyamma,a milk vendor and resident of Gangamahime Layout,was walking towards her Nandini milk shop near Panchamukhi Ganesh Temple.

According to her complaint filed with the Peenya police, the two men followed her on a motorcycle before the pillion rider allegedly grabbed the mangalsutra from her neck and fled with his accomplice.

Vijayama injured when she tried to resist and fell on the grounds.The duo overpowered,grabbed her chain and sped away.

She raised alarm but by the time help came the duo had escaped.The entire incident was captured on CCTV installed near-by.

The stolen chain,which contained gold beads,a tali and Lakshmi coins,weighed around 15 grams and was valued at approximately Rs.1.2 lakh,according to the police complaint.

The complainant told police that the chain had been made by her parents around 20 years ago at the time of her marriage.

Police visited the spot and registered a case.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the motorcycle-borne suspects and trace their movements.

The early-morning chain-snatching has caused concern among residents in the area,with police intensifying efforts to identify and arrest the accused.
