The Government of Karnataka has issued a directive instructing media personnel to conduct interviews strictly at designated locations within the premises of Vidhana Soudha,citing security considerations.
According to an official communication from the Karnataka Government Secretariat dated January 9, 2026,and based on a request from the Deputy Commissioner of Police,Vidhana Soudha Security Division,media representatives must restrict interviews and byte recordings to the space earmarked near the West Gate portico of Vidhana Soudha.
The order specifies that only media representatives recommended by the Department of Information and Public Relations and issued identification cards by the C.A.U.(Executive) wing will be permitted access.
Such accredited journalists must obtain statements and byte reactions exclusively at the designated area near the western entrance.
The directive further emphasizes that during entry into Vidhana Soudha,media personnel should not seek impromptu interviews or byte recordings from the Chief Minister,Ministers,or other dignitaries inside the building premises.
The communication has been digitally signed by the Under Secretary to Government and forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner of Police,Vidhana Soudha Security Division,for implementation.
The move is understood to be part of strengthened security protocols within the state’s administrative headquarters.
