Retired ISRO Employee Kills Wife,Attempts Suicide in Avalahalli

A 65-year-old retired ISRO employee allegedly murdered his wife,also former ISRO staff,and later attempted to end his own life on Wednesday morning.

The accused,identified as Nageshwar Rao (65), reportedly smothered his wife Sandhya Sri (60) to death at their residence in Vachurson Apartment around 11 am.

According to police,Sandhya Sri was a homemaker,and the couple’s daughter is settled abroad.

After his retirement,Nageshwar Rao was staying at home and was said to be suffering from mental distress in recent days.

Police sources said the accused allegedly believed that there would be no one to take care of his wife after his death.He first killed his wife and then attempted suicide.

However,he reportedly panicked after killing wife strangulating her with a towel and later decided against ending his life.

Upon receiving information, the Avalahalli Police Station personnel rushed to the spot, registered a case, and took Nageshwar Rao into custody for further investigation.

Whitefield DCP, Saidulu Adavath confirmed that a detailed probe is underway.

According to him on Wednesday at around 11, information received.At Virtuso Apartment,Bommanahalli area,65 years old person, Nagehlshwar Rao strangulated his wife Sandya Sri with towel.

He is retired Isro employee,DCP whitefield division, Saidulu Adavath said that the accused wanted to take his life before he wanted to kill his wife.So strangulated. No other major reasons.

In a similar incident,a 65-year-old man allegedly murdered by his wife over suspicion and later attempted suicide in Govindarajanagar on Monday midnight.

The deceased has been identified as Devika (55).The accused, Kumar (65),allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp weapon at around 12:45 am while she was asleep at their residence.

Police said the couple had recently visited Sabarimala along with family members.During the trip,the accused reportedly grew suspicious after seeing his wife speak to a driver.Since then,frequent quarrels had taken place between them.

In a fit of rage,Kumar allegedly killed his wife and then attempted to end his life.

However,their children, alerted by the commotion, intervened and prevented him.Officials from the Govindarajanagar Police Station rushed to the scene, conducted a preliminary inquiry,registered a case,and arrested the accused.Further investigation is in progress.
