A four members of a family from Gubbi taluk in Tumakuru district were found dead in an apparent mass suicide at a dharmashala in Rajgir town of Nalanda district,Bihar on Friday is suspected to be due to mental agony and guilt conscious as of the deceased had murdering his minor nephew over a row over mobile gaming addiction,reported in Soladevanahalli in August last year .
The deceased have been identified as G.R.Sumangala, 78,her son G.R.Nagaprasad 50,a security guard at a private firm and his two daughters GR Shilpa,48 and GR Shurtha,43.All four were found hanging inside a room of a dharmashala in Rajgir on Friday morning.
According to police,the family had checked into the dharmashala a few days ago and had not opened the room door for nearly three days.
On Friday around 9.40 am,the dharmashala manager alerted the police after a foul smell began emanating from the room.Police broke open the door and found all four bodies hanging.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that Nagaprasad’s nephew,Amogh Keerthi,was addicted to online gaming and gambling.
Amogh had become addicted to the online game Free Fire and repeatedly demanded money to continue playing.
A week before the murder,he had allegedly assaulted his uncle after being denied money.
Police sources said there were frequent quarrels in the family over money. on August last year,Nagaprasad had allegedly murdered Amogh Keerthi by slitting his throat and went absconding for two days before he surrendered to Soladevanahalli police .
It is also reported that Nagaprasad had earlier attempted suicide by jumping into a lake and was later admitted to a mental health facility for three days.He was produced before the police and released on bail .
The family reportedly decided to travel to Bihar as part of the religious trip.They were planning to visit Rajgir and Nalanda,and had intended to proceed to Bodh Gaya later.
However,under extreme mental stress,all four allegedly took the drastic step together and found dead due to overdose of sleeping pills .
Police found mobile phones,Aadhaar cards and other personal documents inside the room and contacted the Gubbi police and based on the documents,the deceased were confirmed to be natives and their background .
