The Commercial Street police have pin down the accused within 24 hours of incident and arrested a bike rider in connection with a road rage incident in which a car driver was allegedly assaulted for questioning a signal jump.
The accused has been identified as Syed Sameer,a resident of Kathirinenahalli.The incident occurred on January 26 at the signal near Dickenson Road.
Senior officer told reporters that the accused allegedly jumped the traffic signal and attempted to ram his bike into a car.
When the car driver,Praveen,questioned his reckless riding,the accused reportedly abused him,inserted his hand inside the car and assaulted him.
The accused also allegedly used obscene language and threatened the driver,arrogantly responding,This is my bike,I will ride it the way I want,”during the altercation.
The victim Praveen later shared videos of the incident on social media platform X,following which the matter drew widespread public criticism.
Based on the complaint,a case was registered at the Commercial Street Police Station,and the accused was subsequently traced and arrested within record time.
Police said the act had sparked intense backlash on social media,prompting swift action to curb road rage incidents in the city.
To send out a strong warning,Bengaluru City Police also shared ‘before and after’videos of the accused on social media,cautioning offenders against such behaviour.Investigations are ongoing.
