Domestic help from West Bengal arrested by JB Nagar police & recovered stolen valuables worth Rs.1 Crore

The J.B. Nagar police have arrested a domestic help for allegedly stealing gold and diamond jewellery along with cash worth Rs.1 crore from the house where he was employed.

Seemant Kumar Singh,Commissioner of police told reporters that the complaint was lodged on January 21, 2026,by the residents of a villa located at Kodihalli, Rustumbagh Main Road,under the limits of the J.B. Nagar police station.

The complainants, originally from Texas,USA,are a husband and wife working in a MNC in Bengaluru.

The complainants stated that both of them had left for work on the morning of January 21 and returned home in the evening to find that gold and diamond jewellery kept inside a bedroom locker had been stolen.They suspected their domestic help,who had been working at the house for the past six months.

Based on the complaint,a case was registered and police launched an investigation.Within a few hours, police traced and apprehended the domestic help near the complainants’villa.

During interrogation,the accused confessed to committing the theft and revealed that he had hidden the stolen jewellery at his residence in Sudhamanagar.

Based on the information provided by the accused, police recovered 176 grams of gold and diamond jewellery and Rs.39,000 in cash from his house.

The total value of the recovered property is estimated at Rs.1 Crore.

The accused was produced before a court on January 22,2026,and was remanded to judicial custody.
