Senior officer told reporters that the couple went for a walk on Sunday morning and returned home together, after which Guruprasad left to play badminton.
When he came back a few hours later and received no response despite repeated knocks, he called a friend, forced open the door and found Kirthi hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. He immediately informed the police.
During the inquest,Kirthi’s parents filed a complaint alleging that their daughter had been harassed over dowry by her husband. They told the police that there had been earlier disputes related to dowry, which were later resolved.
However, they claimed that Guruprasad had recently been demanding money for the construction of a new house, which may have pushed Kirthi to take the extreme step.Police officials also said that no suicide note was found.
The police have registered a case of dowry harassment and unnatural death. They said the exact reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
